The Journey Begins

I kneel to check my shoes-make sure they’re tied. I’ve got everything I need for this journey. I’ve researched the most beautiful scenic overlooks, the best course to take, and all the right supplies to bring along. And yet, as I stand to survey the road ahead, I feel overwhelmed. I shield my eyes to take in beauty that lies before me, the goodness that awaits. But I also know the trail can be full of dangers. Spiders. Snakes. Stumbling roots.

And yet I begin. I take that first step.

Into the unknown I go. I join with thousands of others on this journey of homeschooling.

This marks the beginning of my journey. It’s August. School is starting back. And for the first time since my school teaching days ended in 2014, I’m headed back to school too.

My classroom looks a little different this time. It’s actually my bedroom. Well it used to be anyway!

And my class-size has certainly changed.

My mission for teaching is one thing that hasn’t changed. I am inspired to instill a joy of learning into my children.

And I’m inviting you to join me on this journey. Because this new step I’m beginning isn’t just into homeschooling. It’s into blogging. I want to grow the wonderful online community of homeschooling mothers. So this blog isn’t just for me.

It’s for you, mama.

It’s for you who’s been on this journey for sometime now who might enjoy the fresh (awestruck!) eyes of a new, hopeful homeschool mom.

It’s for you who are contemplating homeschooling those toddlers hanging onto your legs. I’ve got one of those too!

It’s for you, mama, who is also starting out on your journey in homeschooling, whether you have a 4-year old preschooler like me, or you have found yourself pulling your elementary student out of public school unexpectedly.

And it’s for those of you who have no plan to homeschool at all, but might find encouragement from another mama who is along with you on the journey of parenting.

It’s for all of us. Because we are all on a journey in life. And we need sisters to walk beside us.

I invite you to walk alongside me.

In the world of the internet I might ask you to “follow me.” And while I’d love for you to follow me across social media platforms and through this blog, the term “follow” doesn’t quite seem fitting. Instead I invite you to join me. Let’s journey together!

What can you expect from A Joy-Filled Journey?

It is my desire to provide inspiring, encouraging, and helpful content to accompany you on your journey, wherever you are. You will find topics on faith, parenting, health, teaching, and any other topics involving family life.

My goal for this blog is to develop it into a worthwhile resource for my readers with printables, helpful articles, and useful ideas. I hope you stick around to watch it grow!

I’m on my way. My pack is full. Come along with me, sister. Can we travel together?

An early childhood major, turned homeschooling mama of 3, Julia longs to provide encouragement and resources to help make homeschooling a joy-filled journey.

I’m on the same road as you! (5, 3, and 9 month old babies!) We chose to homeschool for Kindergarten. I was a teacher by trade but have been at home for a little over a year. I’m excited to see some ideas and just have some support on this journey! P.s. Your homeschool room is so inviting!
